Default Please Help me identify my tree.

Hello,
I would appreciate any help in identifying this tree. I purchased it in Korea, where I am now. It has done well in the past several months, though it has recently begun to lose some leaves. is this an issue, and if so what should i do? Also, i have notices some buildup of white cotton-y textured something along the joints of the branches and twigs to leaves.
thanks,
david

It looks like a variety of ash (Fraxinus sp) and the cottony textured something may be akin to cottony scale.

Could be a Ficus.

Looks like it's being grown indoors, so is it a houseplant?

You don't think those look like compound leaves?

And it could be being kept short deliberately. eg bonsai

Treeshaveneeds knows his stuff fellas - those are clearly compound leaves and therefore definitely not a Ficus of any kind.

Yeah, I know nothing about houseplants, so that was a shot in the dark. But it does look similar to a Ficus, at least superficially. I swear I've seen this plant before, I just have no idea what it is.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Much appreciated.

However it doesn't help ID what the tree really is. I wonder if we could get a closeup of the whole compound leaf.
