Default Please help me identify this beautiful tree

Hello, I would love to know what this gorgeous looking tree is. It is quite large and growing in a school ground in bayside Melbourne but looks very tropical. What is it please? Thank you

Are they long pods hanging down from it?

if so may be Catalpa - Indian Bean Tree

Can you provide a clearer photo?

thanks for your help

I agree with Cruising Long - Catalpa tree. The tree has stunning flowers; the seeds in the pods spread with hair like tufts similar to dandelion, but larger. The wood is low density, with minimal strength, and has a distinctive odour. Some think it smells like stale cigarettes. THe tree (in Canada) lives about 80 years, and grows to about 80-90 feet.

Well here in Toronto, a lot of lots are only about 1/6th the size of your garden, and some lots are the size of your garden (ignoring the house) -- and nobody worries about the garden being too small. After all, it takes quite a few years to reach that size. Terminal growth averages 6 to 10 inches per year. I can attest to big trees in small yards (even tiny yards) -- I work in them. Sometimes the access is so tight, it is hard to squeeze in -- you have to walk sideways - real pain moving in equipment or bringing out brush. Doesn't help of course I am kinda big.
