Default Please help me ID this house tree..

I got this tree about a year and a half ago and never knew what it was. The tree just about died except for 4 leaves left on it. So i replanted it, put in miracle grow, and took it out of the direct sun..... and it grew like crazy! except for the top... apparently there is no hope for the top. so i pruned it back and waited a month and it still hasn't grown any on top, just the bottom. So now i ask for your help... what kind of tree is this? How do i take care of it?

if it's a indoor houseplant as you state it could well be a type of Ficus.
These indoor plants can be very temperamental.

As far as treatment, other than buying new I'd recommend pruning to a growth point and feeding with a good indoor houseplant food.
best of luck!

Hi Stephie,

agree that it looks like a Ficus, Ficus hillii. I think the little spots on the trunk indicate that it's a fig. The leaves are usually alot thinner but seeing as you gave it fertilizer then they are vigorous, soft and quite big. If it's a fig explains why it can't be killed.
