I have been searching online trying to identify this tree but I'm having no luck. I'm thinking its some kind of willow, but I'm not really sure. It grows along the Green River in Wyoming. It has skinny pale green leaves that are slightly fuzzy. It has small yellow flowers. This tree has a distinct, slightly sweet smell. I do not have a photo of the full tree itself, only these two. These photos were taken Late June this year. This tree is special to me! Any help is Greatly Appreciated!! MANY THANKS!! |

Looks like Russian Olive, which happens to be quite a nasty invasive plant. Hope that helps! |

I agree -- looks like Russian Olive. Many are planted in waste areas because of their ability to fix nitrogen in the soil. They also have some thorns, so minimize vandalism, and in the right place can be very attractive. If you're into wood turning, the wood is highly valued. For firewood, the oil in the wood tends to keep burning for a considerable length of time.
