Can a MOD or someone please delete my last thread as I messed up and don't know how to do it myself, clearly noob at this. I purchased this little tree on sale yesterday because it was shriveled and dried up. I want to save it, but I don't even know what kind of tree it is. No one at the store seemed to know either. I would like to know so I can look up how to care and revive it. Please help me identify this tree. It has a weird attachment thing on the bottom on both sides of the trunk, and I'm not sure if it's part of the tree or a separate plant perhaps? The tree stump is a dark green with light yellow bumps. The leaves are smooth and narrow. Thank you soo much in advance! I've attached the pictures, I think. |

Hahaha was the plant advertised as a 'Magic Bean' Tree? Or a 'Lucky Bean' Tree? It looks like one of our Oz natives, the Black Bean or Moreton Bay Chestnut. (Castanospermum australe) https://toptropicals.com/cgi-bin/gar...uage=enuser=tt The 'attachment' at the bottom is the seed. It provides nutrients to the seedling as it develops, then once it's finished it shrivels up. Black Beans require a lot of water when young, and are very popular indoor plants as they tolerate low-light levels for the first few years. They grow into quite large trees if you give them room though. They don't like frost so I don't know how they'd go outdoors in Canada. |

Thanks you sosososooo much for the reply, you were very helpful! We get a lot of sun in our house, so I hope it will do. I will re-plant it into a bigger pot soon.

Is that odd? =/ I purchased it in a store. I plan to re-plant it but I wouldn't ever plant it outside, so I don't think it'll grow too big.
