Default Pest tree?

We have just moved to a property with an unbelievable tree in the back. The previous occupant came by an told me that it was a pest. Apparently it exacerbates asthma and causes mould to grow in the house. He said it was a cottonwood tree. As the branches grow and touch the ground another sapling sprouts. Somebody cut some branches to use as posts for a fence and they grew!! We love the tree and were planning to build a deck inside it as it has a huge canopy. Would it be best to cut it down??

Default Re: Pest tree?

I think you have the hibiscus one, that's the trouble with common names ... there's also a populus one.

If you Google more you'll see there's no evidence to say it's bad, but do not forget individuals have their own allergies just like my daughter is allergic to eucalyptus and tea tree.
