Does anyone know what these trees are? I saw them on a boat trip along the backwaters of Dal Lake in Kashmir, India. Any help would be appreciated. ![]() |

Hi Basia from Victoria, Australia, ![]() I'm 99% sure the tree's you saw are the famous Char Chinar tree's. In your pic they are without their leaves. There is a floating island in the middle of the Dahl Lakes, where 4 tree's mark the corner of the island and it has a garden planted on it. Is this where you saw them? They are also called the Indain Flame Tree due to their beautiful red foliage. They are related to the Oriental plane tree. If you "Google" images and type in Char Chinar tree's you wil see a lot more pics. Hope this helps. Farawaytree. |
