Hiya Just returned from a holiday on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria and would like some help id-ing these two (photos attached). One I call the 'broad bean tree', an acacia perhaps that I am not familiar with. The other has a spiny, pendulous, willowy appearance. The fruits become dark, the leaves are alternate and not very hairy. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks |

First one looks like a Pyrus sp. The second a Gleditsia... worth a guess I suppose

hello, i live in Bulgaria on the black sea coast. we have many of these trees. the first is a wild olive ( Olea europaea subsp.oleaster ).unfortunately the fruit is inedible.the second is probably honey locust ( Gleditsia triacanthos ) this is an esapee and not native. Bulgaria is a brilliant place to look at trees, even on a short walk i can see more than 40 species of tree and that is only the decidous ones. |
