This lovely tree is located on my block in Beirut, Lebanon, and I am curious as to what the pods are and if they can be used- but that would require a Tree ID! Thanks for your help! |

Looks like Brachychiton acerifolius, Australian native Illawarra Flame Tree.... do check other ssp though.

Kim V If you don't already know - the seed pods usually contain a lot of fine hairs that are very irritating to soft skin, like in between your fingers. The tree Eric named has a terrific display of red flowers in our spring. Drops its leaves to flower. They stand out magnificently above the canopy in the rain-forest where they grow naturally. Similar species we also have in Australia will have white or cream flowers. Red |
