Well great... the pictures doesn't seem to work...

Does anyone know what kind of trees that are planted all over New Orleans? On the sidewalks on almost every street I walked. Kind of hard to answer without pictures, I know...

If this is what you are talking about 105.JPG (image)103.JPG (image)103.JPG (image)
PICT0315.JPG (image)
Then it appears to be an oak of some kind.Hard to tell without a close up of the foliage.Maybe a live oak?

Aye, Very tricky to tell from photos but bark, dead pegs and hopefully symbiotic growth of climber suggests Quercus spp, as Newguy suggests. More pics??

Thank you for your help! I don't have any more close-ups than this. I think it might be live oak, but I really have no idea, so I hope you can help me!

Is that Quercus ilex, what we call Holm Oak or Evergreen Oak back home?

some of them are pretty good to work in but some have near vertical leaders in them that can get anywhere from 20-100' tall then you get asked to climb up and remove one or 2 dead limbs. That sucks for air humping.

Thank you for all your help! Maybe you also know the name of the moss(?) that grows on it? Would appreciate your input.

The tree is a live oak (Quercus virginanna).

The "moss" is actually Resurrection fern (Polypodium polypodioides).

When it's dry, it all but disappears only to come back in 24 hours after a good rain.
