Apple tree s no way to tell there are thousands kinds maybe when the fruit is ripe .Even then I dont think anyone can say for sure so many grafts ,hybrids ,root stocks ,dwarfs ,semi dwarfs , non dwarfs , crabapples . Fruit tree have many so problems .Most of time they need sprayed ,pollinators ,pruned every year .I do remember one I was planting tree for screen house development was being built there in next few years we were screen it from the road . We eating lunch and the Mexican guys I was working with went to look for a tree to get some shade .When lunch was over they came back with lunch boxes full of the nicest looking red apples you have are seen .I asked were they had got them they showed me the here was apple tree in middle of field covered in thousands of these apples ripe and ready to eat looked like should be at krogers .This had to be untouched for years I ate one probably the best apple I have had .Well when they started building house they tried to move the and fell over man I wish I would have took some grafts from it .
