My grandmother gave us this tree several years back. She told is that it was a "monkey tree." But, as far as I know, there are no trees that look like it which are named that. I've looked in so many places on the internet, but I have no idea where to start. I took this picture not that long ago. Unfortunately, the leaves on it aren't coming in yet. If you need more pictures, I'll be happy to get some. My dad told me that it was a hemlock tree, but I can't find anything that matches that description, either. It's a lively tree, though, and we find new trees all over our yard from it. It started with just one. I live in central to northern Indiana. And, I do no think that this is a native species. ![]() In the summer, the leaves are very long and fern-like. The leaves are slightly fuzzy, as are those red bulbs. It hasn't gotten very big. It grows more out than up. If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated! Last edited by Therrin; 1st May 2009 at 08:19 AM. Reason: pic upload & embed |
