actually i think i might be answering my own post, but after a bit of research i think it's a juvenile boab (Adansonia gregorii). Thanks for the replies anyway!

Hi Muddy99, It looks like Cochlospermum fraseri (Kapok Bush). Do you know whether it has yellow flowers? Also the capsules usually turn brown when ripe. They split open to release the seeds which are covered in cotton wool. ![]() ![]()

Hi Bernard, you're spot on, I enlarged my hi-res version of the photo, and there's a half-open pod with the tell-tale "cotton wool" - just like in this photo http://www.??????.com/photos/central...ia/6139250453/ I only saw it the once, at Inglis Gap on the Gibb River Rd. Many thanks! |
