Can't tell what that is...

Seen some pyrus sp. that have similar leaf shape and fall color though.

It might be.

Maybe cultivar 'Forest Pansy'. It's burgundy when it leafs out and later in the season greens up.

it almost looked like a young copper beech (fagus sylvatica f. purpurea) , it is a bit hard to see , if you could get more photos close up of the leaves and the stem then hopfully we can give you the right name , just my two cent worth

thank you all for the replies and ponder.
I drove by yesterday and snapped a couple of shots of the leaves..My photo files are large - so I have been trying to shrink them to fit in this message -
Take a look and let me know..

THANK You very much for helping me identify this tree - This picture was taken June 13th in Silver Spring, MD.

I have large pictures available.

Phil,

I know of two Judas tree’s (Cercis) in Toowoomba. I use to live there a few years ago. I can't tell from the photos but I thought they were Cercis siliquastrum. I use to mistake them for Bauhinia's.

OK thank you!
When I go to a nursery -

Do I ask for a Cercis siloquastrum?

Is this the same as a rose bud?

I am sorry to ask these questions but I am confused when I google the Cercis Siloquastrum.

I am going Benke's they should know this tree...I hope!

Thanks again for your help!!!

I would take your photo's with you to the nursery and ask for Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'.

Nice choice. Hope the tree grows well for you!
