Help to identify a tree...

Hi all!

First post so please excuse any faux pas!

We have a tree in our garden which we are really struggling to identify - hoping somebody here can help...

Around Spring time is has beautiful pink flowers. The bark is very gnarly, almost paperlike.

Really need to see the leaves on a stem laid out flat, and a pic of the flowers or the fruit. Pics of leaves on trees/shrubs don't usually give a true picture of their shape or features.

Judging by the bark, your "tree" looks like it might be a large Honeysuckle (Lonicera sp) which can grow to about 30 ft, with trunk diameters up to at least 6" - wood is very hard, bark can be strippy, opposite branching, berries may be edible, most species are seldom bothered by insects or diseases, many species tolerate drastic trimming, and regrow vigorously
