Lightbulb help identify the mystery tree

so 3 years ago it started off like a little "vine" what we thought was a zucchini or something and it has grown FAST... in 3 yrs it is 20' tall with leaves that reach up to 16 inches across. the branches are hollow and all fall off in the winter so it is just one big stick, so far we know that its N O T that dangerous plant that everyone is talking about or a form of hops, but any suggestions would be appreciated. oh and it has never flowered or produced any nuts, fruit or whatever. thanks a lot for your time

I concur that it is paulownia tomentosa. I planted one in my garden last year. Reasonably fast grower. Lovely foxglove flowers, but frost tender (here) when young. I am in zone 8. I love this tree......

I agree with the identification, Paulownia tomentosa, these trees are renowned for brittle branches, as such are not reccomended to grow close to buildings.

I think that it will outgrow the available space shown in the photo. Perhaps a more suitable species could be chosen for the site, it could cause you problems in the future.

Julie

Looks like it is right between the houses there.. Paulownia are short-lived and have been known to come down suddenly..... In Sydney anyway!
