Default Eucalyptus tereticornis

Here are photos of Eucalyptus tereticornis. Forest Red Gum, this particular tree is a remant tree of the cumberland plains in Sydneys west.

When you consider this tree would have a big portion of it's roots hacked off during construction of Richmond Rd Blacktown it's a real survivor add to this thread with pictures of E.tereticornis from your part of the country.

The have suffered greatly last few years from drought and declining forest ecology but after a great wet spring in Vic already lookin better. Very Red gum like. When cutting a blood red heart wood extends from trunk up into limbs.

Now cop a load of the difference in leaves compared to Jayd's tree. Also interesting to note the tereticornis var

But Jay'd hasn't provided a mature seed cap. scout out the dirt around the base of the tree.

JayD's dried leaves of his tereticornis

Eric's tereticornis leaves from this thread

So you can all see the variance, this is why with eucs you really need that seed cap. My tereticornis is apparently Eucalyptus tereticornis var. latifolia and derwoodii is talking about yet another called Eucalyptus tereticornis var mediana

And if you click this link you'll discover a lot more "vars"

Dang eucs!

Well, they're not open but looks like tereticornis.

The lack of images on the tereticornis "vars" is going to make it real hard eh.
