Red face A dogwood, cherry, ash?

I've inherited an (almost) dead tree, but have no idea what it looks like healthy - and would like to figure out exactly what type of tree it is.

Any help would be much appreciated...

I've looked on quite a few sites, but must not have this "leaf" recognition thing down yet =P

Thanks so much!

Looks like a sandcherry -- perhaps Prunus besseyi ? Typically grows no more than 8-10 feet high.

looks like Prunus cerasifera 'Thundercloud' (thundering prune) or possibly the 'krateur vesuvius' cultivar
