Default cocus palm differences

I have had this conversation with lots of different tree workers and still come up with no real answer, the question?
there seems to be a distinct difference between two types of cocus palm the ones with a fat bulbous head and the much more slender head where the fronds start further down and have a lot less taper, the fronds on the larger head appear to get slightly bigger but i havent measured the difference, some say its male and female, some say its a different palm but noone has given me a definative answer.

what do you think?

There's many Syagrus ssp.

In the Mt Cootha botanical gardens there's some huge major big headed palms you'd swear are cocos but they are not, although they still are Syagrus ssp but not romanzoffiana.

I also believe their heads get larger with more resources (water and rich soils) and sunlight.

I'v seen a Cocos that is that big and vigorous it would put a Pheonix palm to shame...alas no pictures as it was a long time ago before I started taking pictures of my work and unusual things I came across as I was working.
