Default Cherry Tree?

Can you please help me identify this tree? I think it's some sort of cherry tree. I live in north central NJ and have clay soil. The tree blossomed pink in late April but has never produced fruit.

Might be a cherry or plum -- what do the pits look like?

Most trees that have flowers have fruit. It could have fallen off, not matured ...

I'm just wondering why you still have it supported at that size?

Looks to me it is mature enough to take away the support.

A close-up of the leaves might help to clinch an I.D., I think it looks similar to an ornamental cherry, fruit is tiny, not noticed by many, or perhaps it has not matured enough to fruit. Some close up pictures of the leaf and arrangement on the stem to help the Arborists. Not clear enough at that distance. A close up of the bark will also help.

regards

Julie
