Default Cedar Elm Help With Weird Fuzz On Tree

I had a tree planted that I thought was a cedar elm... My biggest concern is the greenish fuzz it has growing all over branches/truck. There is also some yellow clumps that are growing and now appear to be flowering. Wondering if I should be worried about it? Bought and planted in Austin, Texas.

I wanted to upload a pic but the site is telling me the files too big so I have to learn how to adjust that first.

Thanks, Mike

I have ID it as lichens, should I worry about it or attempt to remove? it covers 80% of the branches. Thanks!

lichens, mosses, ferns--most any epiphyte that grows on a tree is harmless

Look familiar? If so, not a parasite and not an issue.

As others have stated, lichens are not a concern, rather enjoy the additional beauty they bring to the trunk and branches of your tree....plenty of great quality info and images here Lichens and Air Quality Monitoring

You pay premium for large rocks with lichen on them for your garden landscape, they look great too.
