Awesome thanks a lot Paul. My red bud in the front yard is almost completely dead and I need to replace it. I saw these trees in front of a hospital and loved the way they looked. Any idea if these would be ok for a front yard? I dont want it to get too big.

They don't get very big, flower beautifully and would do well in your front yard. Limiting factor...they get borers and that often shortens their already brief life span.

So how long of a lifespan are we talking about. The ones in front of the hospital seem to be pretty old.

Old is a relative term but relative to an oak or hickory or, in your area a pecan, these are very short lived. Maybe a 30 to 40 year span under good conditions that maintain vitality to IMO keep borers off them. They sure are worth planting if only for the spring flower show.
