In the 10 or so years that it has been around it has not made any seeds, flowers or anything other than the leaves. Now it is to tall for the house, it has always been an indoor plant, so we are giving it away. I want to try to replace it for my wife maybe even grow a new one from it if possible. I know some trees can do that. No idea if this is possible though. My guess is a plam of some sort but can't find anything close to it. This is the main tree shot. The other 2 are close ups don't know if they could help or not. |

Can't edit my post but it seems my photo is down. At least I can't see it so I will add it here.

Rhino, Looks like Dracaena fragrans ‘Massangeana’. They're pretty easy to grow. Just trim them up to the length you want, strip off the old leaves and repot in fresh potting mix. Do you have a shady area outside or a green house? ![]() ![]()

| Thanks for the help so far that name looks right from the pics I found on the net. ![]() Now I have a few questions about growing a part of it. Can I just cut the stalk, on the red line, and put it in a new pot and have roots come out of it? Or is it suppose to be cut in the leaves so both parts still have leaves? I have a bag of soil, don't know if it has to be a certain kind for this plant but I still need a new pot. The only shade in the yard is from the house as the sun goes over it. So as far as a shady area either side of the house has a shadow but none that stays kind of shady all day. No green house here. The only other plant I have really ever had is a monster cactus. Even my grass does not grow very well. ![]() As for the flowers a site I saw said these only flower and have seed pods once or twice in the life of the plant stalk. That or it is just really rare. |

I have always cut them and left some leaves, I doubt a straight stalk with no leaves would strike but you could try. Would be wise to put some hormone rooting powder on the cut end then stick in a pot, keep moist.
