i was was walking the other day and found a tree branch laying on the ground. it was young and green. the bark was pale with what looks like reddish spots all along the bark. it was easy to flake off with my fingernail but the bark its self was smooth. the leaflets were alternate pinnate compound and had about 9 per leaflet. the leaves were smooth and spear shaped. i was curious about what kind of tree it was. I thought it was a ash tree but everything i show is ash leaves are opposite instead of alternate.
