Default TreeGear.com.au | Australia's Best Value Arborist Supplies

tree gear arborist supplies logoAnnouncement

TreeGear.com.au launches to help other tree companies and climbers save time & money...

Melbourne Arborist Trev Douglas from Total Tree Care (AUST) has branched out into retailing tree climbing equipment and arborist supplies. After 15 years in the tree service industry, I've worked my way up, from groundy to climber to arborist to business owner. As a climber, I know what gear is good, what gear is great & what gear is a waste of time & money! And as a business owner running a full time crew, I know all too well the high costs of buying the gear you need, the gear you really want, and having to replace it when needed, and stay up to date.

We stock all the top brands: Petzl, Buckingham, Yale Cordage, Samson Ropes, New England Ropes, Silky Saws, Advanced Rope Technology ART, DMM Wales, CMI, ISC, Kong ...

TreeGear.com.au is here to help you save money. Our prices are far better than anyone else in Australia. Ok, so if you try hard enough, you might find a few items literally just a few dollars cheaper. But on average we are 20% - 50% cheaper!
By keeping our overheads low, we keep the prices fair, leaving more $$$ on your bottom line. Hey I know tree work is fun, you gotta love what you do, but at the end of the day you want cool shiny gear and some money left over.

By turning our existing depot in Braeside, Victoria, into a modest retail shopfront, as well as selling online Australia wide, our costs are low and the savings passed onto you.

Please bear with us while we build TreeGear.com.au We will be adding products every day until we get them all listed. Anything that you want that isn't listed please ask. We probably either already have it in or on it's way.

Drop me an email at trevor@treegear.com.au or post in here if you have any questions.

Wow! I must say I'm impressed! A great looking site with great prices to match! And not only that, it is run by one of our very own Tree World locals Good stuff mate, got some stuff I'll definately be buying from ya very soon.

My most honest opinion on what makes and breaks it for me with a vendor is their shipping times (being honest about them) - not prices.

Thanks for the feedback John.

I'll do my best to always ship ASAP, but you have my word i'll be honest & open about where things are at, at all times.

Right now I have all the small bits in stock. Bigger, more personalised things, i dont have every model & size of yet, like say an XLarge harness & some ropes, will be brought in to order in about 7-10 days. This helps keep overheads & prices low. As we get through this infancy we will keep everything in stock.

I will not process payments against anything i backorder until i have it and am ready to ship it to you. I think that's fair.

I look forward to helping out any TreeWorlders!

Good looking site, Silky's at a realistic price, about time!

I don't need anything at the moment but maybe I'll try the Sugoi now.

Good luck with it,

Im looking at buying the petzel sequoia. Not sure if I see any real benefit of the SRT version. If using the petzel croll and secur attached to the rear waistbelt buckle, looks like it would be difficult to detatch from harness while in the tree?

The Sequioa is an awesome harness, i've done a few rec climbs in it and really like it. Light & neat, its a great for moving about a big canopy on a large prune or for small-medium removals. I prefer some a bit more solid for blocking down big removals carrying big saws for long periods though.

Re SRT, you'd usually leave the chest harness on, just disconnect the rope when switching from srt to ddrt & go.

It's only a bit extra for the srt model, so worth it if you think you'll use it, but there's still plenty of ways to go srt on the standard harness.

Let me know if i can help you out with either.

Cheers, Trev.

Thanks Trev

Is there any major advantage to using the ventral attachment point over the bridge for attaching a croll? I like the look of the standard harness because of the waistbelt buckle.

Not really, if youre not going pretty full on with srt, you might be better off with the standard one.

The waist clip is good. I'd say go a standard one, and use a seperate chest harness down the track if you want to.

I have seen the mans store fellas. Its Fantastic. This really is a win win situation. If you do need gear and Trev has it (Which he can pretty much get what ever you like) i strongly recommend buying it through him.

I don't know about you guys in other states but we have been dying for something like this to come along in Victoria for a long time. Gear is not only essential for part of our job, but for many people new gear keeps the jobs fresh and keeps climbers excited and enthusiastic about the industry.

To Whom it May Concern,
I have known TrevMcrev on line persona for over twelve months now during this time I have found Trev to be a straight shooter and I do not hesitate in recommending his Treegear shop as a reliable source for your Tree gear.

You also have to realise Trev not only sells quality gear at the right price,he also has the practical years as a climber to advise you in times when you just cant make up your mind on which way to go with gear, once the moneys spent it's spent.

For Quality gear and quality advise backed up by a man with the experience a Qualified Arborist, How can you go wrong.

One other thing I have to say is Trev is active on this forum, he's around, he's contactable and what you see is what you get.

When sponsors get active in this forum you know they have a passion for what they do and they give a stuff about their products, same can be said for the tree people who put in hours of energy here.

Online approachable businesses are the way to go. Most website hosts etc have forums and use them for issues, it takes some hide I tell you when a server goes down and everyone pounds these guys but that's better than some crap never hear a thing like you'd get from a large company isn't it? Those hosts have my respect and my business because they're always there and care. We all know from time to time things happen, out of many peoples control but stand up people with backbone can take a few tomatos as well as accolades.

I hope things are progressing well Trevor, I cannot believe other gear shops wouldn't advertise here, I approached many one on one and they refused, one had the ignorance to say we weren't an "offical forum", I'm sure many would like to see this forum die and perhaps your gear shop too but at the end of the day they thankfully dont run the internet or peoples wallets.

Consumers, we have a stand up supplier here, accessible and you can join in and have your say.

Well done Trevor.

Awww shucks Thanks for the kind words guys.
It's going great, selling gear far & wide. Seems the market place has been crying out for an alternative. And a high ranking, easy to use online store along with the incredible reach of TreeWorld has sure helped

Quote:

Hey NewGuy, you really are best to buy local. My prices are very good value for Australia, up to 40% than alternative stores on some items, but essentially, you'd be converting to AUD, shipping here, then back again! But i appreciate the support

Yep, funny that. I'm already hearing some interesting rumours getting spread around town about us and experienced bullying tactics towards me, my supplier and their suppliers overseas, and from local distributors to attempt to stop supply of products to us

Seems they think it's their right to own the industry and no one else is allowed to open up shop! Imagine yourself not being allowed to run a tree service business because one big co wants the whole market to them self!

Who would have thought they'd be so threatened by a little tree guy having a go. But hey, i figure it means we must be doing something right in offering tree climbers the choice at last to buy gear in this country at fair prices. It was years of overpaying for gear myself that inspired the foundation of TreeGear.com.au
If i just wanted to profiteer from selling gear, my prices would be high too.

I'm here just as much to help fellow tree climbers & co's, as I am to make a fair deserved profit.

I believe you guys should have as much right to choose where you buy from as I do to choose what price i think is fair to sell to you at.

The age old practice of price fixing, boycotts and refusal to supply these days will have a swift ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) action, if you hear rumours start to report them.

It's the same ignorance and arrogance that was part of the reason for Tree World, I have always said that the arb scene in Australia was controlled by a few in the "boys club". You'll be surprised the bull that does exist, the bullying, slander and defamation that does go on behind your back. Slowly the ground they stand on is eroding to transparency and accessibility, and intelligent people can see that.

One man with a camera and a keyboard turned a lot of those fools on their heads and continues to do so. They still cling to the ole "it's not fair, he's not allowed to take pictures or post them etc" because their brains are small and rotten!

People do see through the rubbish, at this infant stage many still lurk afraid to "pipe up" amongst peer pressure, worry not Trev and others the stats, sales, phone calls etc show the good news is spreading... no strings attached

Some interesting stuff there ekka.

Quote:
Anti-competitive conduct
Part IV of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (the Act) covers anti-competitive practices that limit or stop competition. It fosters the competitive environment to give consumers a choice in price, quality and service. It prohibits commercial conduct that substantially lessens competition in a market, as a lack of competition might allow some traders to push prices up and lower the quality of the goods and services they offer to consumers.

Some anti-competitive conduct is prohibited outright (e.g. price fixing), while other types are prohibited only if they substantially lessen competition. A substantial lessening of competition is apparent when the ability of buyers to shop around for a deal that suits them is significantly diminished.

There are some circumstances in which a refusal to supply is unlawful under the Act. These include a misuse of market power, third line forcing, boycotts, resale price maintenance, and placing limitations on resellers. Further information on these restrictive trade practices can be found in the ACCC publications, Refusal to deal, Summary of the Trade Practices Act: and additional responsibilities of the ACCC under other legislation, and Small business and the Trade Practices Act.

THANK YOU

Thanks to all our customers that have gotten behind TreeGear in its opening month and bought from us!

I'm blown away by the support & positive feedback I've received so far.

Stuff is going out as soon as it comes in!
I've sent gear to all ends of Australia already.... well ok, not Tassie yet Does that count.... Joking

Seems the treeguys out there really are happy about having an alternative supplier and word is spreading.

Thanks again,
Trev
