| Loaders for the tree and landscape professional G’day everyone, ![]() I'm the manager of Schaffer Loaders Australia. We import German built industrial quality mini loaders, mini diggers, front end loaders, wheel loaders and articulated telehandlers. The smaller articulated loaders are an alternative to the skid steers that dominate the Australian industry. We are finding many arborists and landscapers are looking for an alternative to skid steers. They want a loader that doesn’t screw up the ground that they are working on. Skid steers skid to turn so can even rip up asphalt, so its pretty obvious what happens when you do a sharp turn in a backyard, leading to time wasted top dressing when it could be put towards the next job. Watch this . We strive to put out the best mini loader on the market, with the best back up and service from a family owned company. A big difference when you call us is that when you become a customer we know who you are, we aren't a massive firm, so you are not treated like a number. All we do at Schaffer Loaders is SCHAFFER LOADERS and we know that your machine is often your livelihood so timely backup is essential. Any of our customers will vouch for this. The German's built Schaffer Loaders are a very heavy duty, industrial mini loader, which ranges between 1500kg and 8350kg operating weight. Engines are Kubota from 26 to 90hp and water cooled Deutz up to 177hp. Hydraulics’ are all industrial Bosch/Rexroth and axles made by ZF. We have a wide range of attachments to suit any need.A few things that arborists like about the Schaffer loader range include: 1. Wide tyres – minimum 12” of tread on the ground, spreading the load when big logs are picked up and gives superior traction in boggy conditions. 2. Fast – travel speed minimum 12km/hr but generally 20km/hr. 3. Built to last – Schaffer mini loaders are heavier than other mini loaders as the pins, rams, chassis and mast are the strongest on the market. A 50mm solid bar top and bottom is used for the quick hitch showing just how strong a mini loader they are. This gives peace of mind to the owner that they have invested in a mini loader that is going to last. 4. Oscillating articulation joint with 2,000 hour warranty. The oscillating articulation joint gives a great ride for the operator as it functions as suspension in rough terrain. The operator can work much faster as they aren’t being jolted and are still ready to party at the end of the day. 5. Huge range of tools – rake bucket, bulk woodchip bucket, log grab, rotating log grapple, auger, trencher, slasher and another 40 to choose from! Tools include Schaffer genuine, Digga, Norm Engineering and custom built. 6. Great all round visibility – you sit on top of the mini loader and have amazing all round view, giving safer and faster productivity on the job site, especially in restricted areas. 7. Massive lift capacity – the long wheel base and heavier machine gives superior lift capacities to lighter mini loaders, particularly in rough terrain. There aren’t too many tricks about how much you can pick up, it’s related to your operating weight. 8. Seating position at the rear of the mini loader - Only a couple of mini loader brands worldwide are still manufactured where you sit on the front chassis, as the back swings like a car trailer and is difficult to drive, particularly in tight situations. 9. Fold down ROPS to get under carports. The two smallest mini loaders use just 4 bolts and the ROPS folds back to give access to low areas. 10. Have a drive and see for yourself! If anyone would like an info pack, please PM me, Cameron, or give me buzz on 0417669707 or the office on 1300 88 2161 ... there's also some PDF's attached below for you to read.

Hi Guys, I thought I'd better put up a few video's to show the Schaffer Loaders in action! Some of the videos are on our websiteSchaffer Loaders - Mini Loaders - Mini Diggers - Front End Loaders - Wheel Loaders - Telescopic Articulated Loaders - articulated forklifts, but it might be a bit easier to just put them up from our youtube siteYouTube - schafferloaders's Channel. The best video for arborists to watch, showing most models: This is a really great short video of the 3150 skid steer substitute in an ad produced by the northern Queensland dealer. This is a mid range loader in the Schaffer Loader range http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/0/n5YvKfchCRQ Small series mini loaders promo video done in Australia, showing accessories 4-in-1, rippers, leveling bar, green waste grab, excavator hoe, auger and pallet forks in action. http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/4/0ZbqL3TkqDk Customers who own the smallest series Schaffer mini loader in this video http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/6/cV5KIsgPd4E Another mini loader in action - Neils Mini Earthworks http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/12/gKq0PdTROqU Neils Mini Earthworks at it again http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/10/b0MtfcbhWic This is an official promo video from Schaffer in Germany with the 3150, this was developed in conjunction with feedback from Australia and is now sold worldwide into tree lopping, construction, landscaping and council work. http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/11/fceQ7LqN5FE Mid series showing two customers on a 3150, generally called a skid steer substitute, it has a massive lift capacity due to the slightly shorter mast. The model with a cabin in the video is a 3033S, an older model produced by Schaffer. http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/8/-TUh_nAOxak Slashing using a 3150 in this video. The slasher runs independently to the loader and uses a direct drive 18hp Briggs & Stratton, this gives it enormous grunt and being direct drive there is no loss from the loader which can operate at low RPM http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/2/EiyDRShMYAc This video is of a 5050Z in NSW pushing down Tea Trees to clear a block to extend the operation. http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/3/B7PuZ5wDLaI Two customers in this clip operating a 5050Z and the bigger 70hp 5058ZS http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/9/D0PZtGuzufI This clip is in forestry in WA with an intermercato Intermercato AB log grapple http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/7/2KIGvTay2zc I didn't have any logs to try the grapple on, just a quick clip showing the tree grapple in action! http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/13/P-iHfd6-81o Cheers, Cam

Hi Again Guys, I thought I would just put up a few stories for everyone to read! This link has them all on our news page, or see below. The pdf's have a much nicer format. The serious arborist ones I've just put in and the rest are as pdf's Mini loader - Top Of The Tree – Schaffer mini loader 2026 Schaffer owners Specialised Tree Services Industry type Arborists Location Grass Valley, Perth, Western Australia Model mini loader 2026 Accessories Log grab, mulch bucket, 4-in-1 bucket Usage Loading logs and debris onto a truck after tree pruning as well as moving and loading firewood and woodchips Requirement A versatile, nimble mini loader with the strength to lift logs without damaging pavers and lawns like a skid steer When a dangerously dangling branch threatens life and limb, who are you going to call? In Perth, authorities like Main Roads, Western Power and local councils call Randle Beavis of Specialised Tree Services. As one of Perth’s leading tree surgeons, Randle’s expert knowledge and chainsaw can deal with everything from tricky tree emergencies to routine maintenance in parks and gardens. Pruning and tree removal means there are large logs to remove from site, without any collateral damage. “We had tried using bobcats and skid steers of various types but all they do is rip up pavers and people’s lawn and it was costing us time and money to repair the damage,” Randle explains. To avoid such damage, Randle opted for an articulated mini loader instead. “We decided to trial a couple of articulated loaders, one of which we almost bought. Then Cameron Moir and Boya Equipment brought a Schaffer mini loader up to our worksite and did a demonstration with us with the machines side by side. That made us realise that the Schaffer was just that far ahead of the competitor there was no comparison. So we bought the Schaffer.” While there is a perception that Schaffer’s German quality comes with a high-end price tag, Randle says he saved $15,000 on the Schaffer deal compared to the competitor’s brand. A year down the track, Randle is still very happy with his Schaffer 2026. “It saves us time, it saves us money, productivity is greater. Our operators fight over who gets to use it. And the back-up from Schaffer and Boya has been excellent,” he says. Tec spec Engine Kubota D1105 – 26hp Speed 15km/hr Operating weight Including general purpose bucket – from 1500kg Operating load General purpose bucket (50% of fully articulated load) – 350kg; pallet forks, even terrain – 400kg; pallet forks, rough terrain – 300kg Tipping load Straight – 900kg Schaffer Articulated Loader Case Studies 3033 & 3150 Schaffer owners Keith and Kerry Parnell Industry type Tree farming Location Tincurrin, Western Australia Model 3033 mini digger Accessories Forks, GP bucket, rotary hoe, cement spreader Usage Moving racks of seedlings around the nursery, loading trucks on rough terrain, general earthworks Requirement A mini digger capable of negotiating tight nursery aisles while carrying maximum seed trays Two Schaffers better than one for growing trees At Keith and Kerry Parnell’s tree nursery at Tincurrin in Western Australia’s eastern Wheatbelt region, a Schaffer 3033 mini digger proved so successful they added a second Schaffer mini digger to their fleet. The nursery has a capacity of up to three million seedlings including oil mallee, a tree that can produce energy for sustainable development while reducing soil salinity. The seedlings are propagated in a greenhouse, then transported into cell trays as they mature. They are moved around the nursery on racks, capable of holding up to 70,000 seedlings. Before acquiring their first Schaffer 3033 mini digger in 2005, the Parnells used a tractor with a rear-mounted forklift to take the trays to the edge of the nursery. However, the tractor was too wide to take the trays down the aisles, so they had to be carried by hand. Keith and Kerry’s Schaffer 3033 mini digger, which is only 1.4 metres wide, proved compact enough to transport the trays down the 1.6m aisles, helping to reduce labour costs and speed up the work. Keith says special racks were built that can carry 72 trays at a time, enabling the mini digger to take the place of at least two staff. “The Schaffer 3033 is one of the best things I have bought for the nursery – it’s fantastic,” Keith says. Schaffer loaders, which range in power from 26hp to 177hp, provide superior performance under all conditions and really excel in tight spots, where their articulated agility is an asset. “Other loaders tested were either too wide for the confined nursery spaces or too small and light to perform the required tasks. A skid steer machine was not suitable because it damages the ground, unlike the Schaffer mini digger,” Keith says. The Parnells backed their enthusiasm for their Schaffer by purchasing a second Schaffer mini digger in 2009, this time the top-selling 3150. Hi Guys, ![]() I thought I'd post a few pics of some rotating tree grapples going out. We have had one undergoing testing in Kununurra for over 4 years now so thought we had better get some out for everyone else to enjoy. One of the biggest reasons to use a rotating log grapple is that you can rotate it straight into the chipper which you can't with a grapple bucket. Also traveling is easier as you can grab the end of a whole tree and bring it to the chipper. I think everyone has seen this clip showing tree grapple a few years back. http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders?feature=mhum#p/u/7/2KIGvTay2zc This rotating log grapple on a Schaffer articulated loader is being used on a Lucas Mill, it went off to Tassie from Perth so we haven't been able to get a picture of it in action yet! Another rotating log grapple, but with a stronger stone grapple is currently being used to place 600 rocks over one tonne each on a large landscaping project in Port Headland. ![]() This rotating log grapple is on a customers bobcat skid steer ![]() There will be more youtube videos up shortly of customers in action, I just need to learn how to put all that footage together in a video! Cheers, Cameron Moir Schaffer Loaders

How much weight can you put on the end of that grapple before the unit starts tipping forward?

Sorry I didn't notice that you had posted a question, I got back at 2am from Germany so feeling a bit rough after an 18 hour flight! The weight you can pick up with a rotating tree grapple all depends on what size loader you own. The Intermercato grapples pictured in the above post are designed to drag about 3 tonnes and are made from HARDOX so they won't break in a hurry. The 3050 Schaffer in the picture has a longer mast (3m) than the standard 3150 so its good for around 1.2 tonnes, but the 3150 customers doing up to 1.8 tonnes on a set of pallet forks - we don't advise this however as its over the SWL. An Intermercato rotating grapple weighs about the same as a set of forks so you don't loose much capacity there but you need to be aware that when you rotate your centre of gravity changes. Often you aren't lifting the log clear of the ground - one end is being dragged along so you can lift as much as the machine will lift. The Schaffer's have a longer wheelbase so you can lift a lot more than a skid steer. Most customers skid the log along the ground and then just rotate a bit to keep feeding their chipper. It saves a lot of time and the guys that own them all rave about it. Eric has used one for many years. This video shows a bigger rotating tree grab in action. http://www.youtube.com/user/schafferloaders#p/u/7/2KIGvTay2zc This story is about Dave Storrs in Kununurra who owned a manually rotating tree grapple for over 3 years. Mini loader - SchafferMiniLoaderGrowsMoneyOnTrees2026.pdf I hope this gets to you! Cheers, Cameron Moir

| Hi Honestyeagle, The Schaffer wheel loaders aren't the cheapest on the market - that's for sure, but we get a lot of customers buying more for their other arborist crews because in the long run quality pays off (even in the short run!). I think if you are an arborist with a full week booked ahead - reliability pays for itself very quickly. Machine downtime costs a lot when customers have to be reshuffled, reputations tarnished and jobs lost as promises can't be kept. Schaffer in Germany have parts going back to the first wheel loaders they ever produced - around 27 years ago as many are still operating. I think paying a tiny bit more at the start and getting such a long lifespan much prove the value. This story about a large farm in Germany is a good read. They have one machine with 19,500 hours on it and another with 21,000 hours! SchafferFrontEndLoaders&Telehandlers ClockUp20000workinghours.pdf Fortunately for Australian's the Aussie dollar is now so high against the Euro that prices are at their lowest ever! So buying a quality bit of gear that will speed every job, turns up to work every Monday and doesn't get tired at the end of the day, has never been so affordable! Please visit Schaffer Loaders - Mini Loaders - Mini Diggers - Front End Loaders - Wheel Loaders - Telescopic Articulated Loaders - articulated forklifts for more details. ![]() Cheers, Cameron Moir
