Umm Bill I am old and figuring out the embedding stuff is beyond my ability! I figure IF the text is worth reading, they will click to open a picture! This is for sponsors to display their goods, I just thought I might demonstrate IF you have the tools SOME work can be done in your own shop!

Sorry for the derail Wojo!

My only concern with that one TD is where the exhaust is pointing.

If you are cutting off stumps close to the ground your left hand might get a bit hot.

That's the hard part, where to point the darn thing.

You bet that was a concern. I pondered on that issue for an hour, and the direction it is installed is just pointed a tad(probably 1-2 degrees) too high. I used it on Friday (2 spruce removals to the ground) and it was a lot better than the stock port pukking fumes in your kisser because its trapped on the ground!

As it was REAL cold, I was wearing gloves, I tried in in ALL positions, heat doesn't appear to be an issue. The 361 is a decent all round saw for small removals (notches and back cuts) flush cut to the ground and bucking. I weighted the odds of which direction the port was best pointed and went for it! BTW I have a screen on order from a stihl blower, BUT the increase in performance was VERY noticable!

It isn't perfect, but hell if I'm not happy, I can change it again! I am a multi-talented guy! AND good looking to boot!

Hey guys, Its ok if you show your homemade mods. I like seeing what guys are doing. You can even find some of my early work out there showing step by step building procedures.

I would recommend doing the screen differently. I know the guys here pull that screen off the blowers because they clog up with carbon. I know you feel that they look like a stock stihl thing, but sometimes the engineers get it wrong.

Are we talking about a 338? (Sorry I may have misread the thread.)

I just bought a 339 and am having problems getting it to run right. Wants to idle crazy fast and when I turn the idle down it dies when I blip the throttle. Also it was revving over 15k WOT new.

So I popped the HS limiter and got it to run sub 14k, but haven't sorted out the reponse and idling thing. Popped the LS limter today and will see if richening the LS helps the issue.

My post is because the limiter on this saw doesn't have the usual tabs, but rather a stop but into the bottom of the tube. So it looks to me if you were to remove that "stop" it the tube would then not be held up in the position it was designed for.

I might be wrong, but my intent is to reposition the limiter so I extra range at counter clockwise, rather than cutting the limiter.

So far I haven't got the new saw to behave. Anyone know the baseline (typical from factory) number of turns out for the LS and HS?

All I've ever done on these saws is trim the tabs off with a razor knife.

If you port the muffler, the saw should run much better. My most recent Husky saws idle and run reliably.

Hey good to "see" you again!
My experience with Tillys, Walbro,Zama etc over the years is 1 1/4 turn on low and 3/4 turn on high give or take a little. My little MS200 says 1 turn on L & H on cover, but runs at 1 1/2 L, 1/2 h

Hey Scott,

I just bought a GB pro top 20" 3/8, .63,
Just out of curiosity what price do you do on that bar?

I know your in the states but I paid $100aus for one so was just interested to see the price difference. I have not used a GB bar before and got one as they were recommended to me by another member on here also called Scott (who I think actually purchases from you), so was just interested to see how differently the non laminated bar went.

I am just waiting on a new 361 to come to test it on

To be honest, I have not even tried to get a GB bar in a very long time. Our supplier has not been able to get any shipments in since GB's unfortunate situation. Every time I ask they say they have a shipment that is 3 months out. And I have been asking on and off for a year. maybe in spring.

Time to research other products made by people who have environmental policies, superannuation, work cover, dont put toxins in paint, childrens toys, milk and clothing and aren't trying to buy up Australia's mining industry or jail our foreign corporate managers.

Well, I think it was their announcement that they're going to China.

Here's another typical case.

West End factory to close as Bonds goes offshore - Business - BrisbaneTimes

Quote:
The company, which makes a swag of well-known labels including Bonds and King Gee, will axe 1850 jobs nationwide and pull clothing manufacturing out of Australia entirely by September 2010.

Its Brisbane clothing factory at West End is slated for closure with the loss of 56 jobs.

"We have a program to address firms in difficulty," Queensland Treasurer Fraser told reporters in Brisbane.

"No doubt we'll be in touch with the company with that advice about those possible job losses."

The company announced the retrenchments after posting a first-half loss, which it blamed on difficult market conditions.

It will spend $100 million shift the work offshore, to China - a move that comes after a $15 million Federal Government handout that was supposed to bolster Pacific Brands' local manufacturing operations.

About 1200 of the positions that will go are in manufacturing. Many of the remainder - administrative posts - are likely to come from the Melbourne headquarters.

Other manufacturing sites to close include the Bonds NSW factories in Cessnock, Wentworthville and Unanderra and King Gee in Bellambi.

Pacific Brands' net loss for the six months to December 31 was $149.956 million, compared to a profit of $57.02 million in the previous corresponding period.

The company manufactures household brand names including Holeproof, Dunlop, Stussy, Mossimo, Berlei and Hard Yakka - and its public faces include former tennis ace Pat Rafter and supermodel Sarah Murdoch.

PacBrands also plans to shut down a number of smaller brand names in the face of ongoing difficult economic conditions.

The heavily-indebted company said it had made the decision because there was "no long-term sustainable advantage from local manufacturing'', and that "efforts to make (its facilities) cost efficient (were) no longer relevant''.

That came as new data revealed skilled job vacancies slumped a further 11% in February.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations skilled vacancies index in February was 46.4 points, 52.4% lower than in February 2008.

The company will close down the majority of its clothing manufacturing facilities across the world - including a factory in China - and will instead rely on sourcing products from other suppliers.

Investors backed the move strongly this morning, with shares rising 2.9%, or one cent, to 36 cents in recent trade. Earlier the stock spiked at 38 cents - an 8.6% jump on the last trade yesterday.

But the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union's Michele O'Neil says the closures aren't justified. She has made an urgent call for high-level meetings in a bid to save jobs.

"We don’t accept that this decision is justified,” Ms O'Neil said. "This company has received million of dollars of government assistance over many years. And some of these businesses are profitable."

"We’re calling on the Federal Government and the company to urgently meet with the union to see if some of these jobs can be saved."

The company's board said it would not pay its shareholders a dividend in order that as much cash as possible could be preserved. A decision on the final dividend for the 2009 financial year will be made according to business conditions at the time.

Pacific Brands chief executive Sue Morphet described the first half result as "solid" and in line with the company's guidance.

The current economic climate remains challenging and uncertain, with consumer confidence at low levels, she said.

"The potential for the continuation of deterioration in the market means we are not in a position to confidently predict the second half performance," she said.

Revenue for the first half fell 5.2% to $1.04 billion, with earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (EBITA) up 0.3% to $113 million.

The company's EBITA margin climbed 0.4% to 10.8% on a 0.8% rise in its gross margin to 44.7%.

Pacific Brands has extended the maturity date of its earliest maturing debt facilities, currently worth $550 million, until August 2010.

The third tranche of debt, worth $250 million, matures on March 28, 2012.

Ms Morphet said Pacific Brands will implement a new strategy, dubbed Pacific Brands 2010, to restructure the business, fold smaller brands to cut costs and complexity and shut down some clothing manufacturing in Australia.

"Unfortunately these changes will necessitate 1850 jobs losses in Australia over an 18-month period including 1200 in clothing manufacturing,'' she said.

"The reduction in complexity will deliver the future strength, growth, profitability and sustainability of the business - for our shareholders and employees.''

The company says the new strategy will deliver $150 million a year in cost savings by full year 2011 after an overhaul of sourcing, including closing the majority of its Australian clothing manufacturing operations.

As well, Pacific Brands will offload non-core businesses, sell properties, relocate some head office functions and consolidate office space.

One-off expenses of around $110 million would be incurred in the second half of 2009 with another $15 million in full year 2010 and 2011, the company said in a statement.

The company will use increased operating cashflow to pay down debt.

This may be complemented by asset sales, and would determine the most appropriate debt facilities for the newly structured business, Ms Morphet said.

Pacific Brands has extended the maturity date of its earliest maturing debt facilities, currently worth $550 million, until August 2010.

The third tranche of debt, worth $250 million, matures on March 28, 2012.

Pacific Brands' earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation were $126 million for the first half of fiscal 2009, up by $500,000 on the previous corresponding period.

The company wrote down the carrying value of a number of assets by $206.4 million.

There was no impairment of assets recently acquired with Sheridan, Yakka, or Brand Collective.

Despite market conditions, key brands including Bonds and Workwear performed well, but were offset by declines in Clothing New Zealand and Holeproof.

Seven sites will be shut down over the next 18 months.

The breakdown of redundancies is: Cessnock (83), Unanderra (207), Wentworthville (233), and Bellambi (74), all in NSW, West End, Queensland (56), Nunawading (255) and Coolaroo (298), both in Victoria.

These sites manufacture the Bonds, CTE, Holeproof, Hosiery and King Gee brands.

"All entitlements of affected staff will be met,'' Ms Morphet said.
Go check the others like Oliver boots, Blundstone etc .... Australians are getting shafted, no doubt!

If you could remove the muffler and send it to me it would be a flat fee of $75.00

If you require a new muffler to be purchased, the price is $125.

And this is typical for most saws. Excluding alloy aluminum mufflers such as the MS 880.

Thanks,
Scott.
