Mike, There is a highly polished spark arrestor headed your way right now. Just find something round to curl it up. should fit down the pipe pretty tight. Thanks, Scott |

Can I get one of these modified mufflers for a Husky 66? How much can I expect to pay for a new muffler for you to modify?

I can get a new Muffler for that saw for $40.00 so add $85 to that and shipping. So total shipped price is $140.00. Thanks, Scott.

| OK thanks for that. The reason I ask is that I am worried I may find it too loud. Would the outlet be in the same location, a different one, or both?

| Well you would keep your stock muffler in case you are working in sensitive areas. You can not have such performance gains without making the saw louder. Only way would be to have a motorcycle style muffler with an expansion chamber. But you are talking a serious racing saw with serious money involved.

| Well here's a tip...Use hearing protection no matter what saw you use. Mod or no Mod. Its not so loud that you will get injured, it actually sounds better.

Sorry, I do not have a decibel meter. I do not know how to properly perform the test anyway. Eric (Ekka) has one of the mufflers over there. Perhaps he has one of those meters or you can see the saw for yourself. Thanks, Scott. |

Ekka lives about 1000 miles from me, so there's not much chance of me hearing it in person.

I have been reading, they're a little noisier but not that bad. Page 75 of the attached document should help you out. Most saws here in Australia come with two dB numbers on them. The higher number is the noise at operators point and the other at 7.5m away I think.

| If I were happy with the results, yes. But I'm sure there would be other people who would be more likely to buy one of your mufflers if you could prove that the noise level increase isn't too bad.

Well why don't you try this. Buy one, try it out and if you do not like it, return it for a full refund. Were you to return it, you would be the first of hundreds of buyers. I have never had one returned, never. The muffler is not open to atmosphere. There is an internal pipe and a very stout screen. Yes, if you point the pipe directly at someone's ear It would definitely seem louder. The majority of the sound waves will be concentrated out the pipe in one direction. But the sound is a deep throaty sound. Much more pleasant sound than the stock "RAT TAT TAAT" Thanks for all your questions. Scott. Last edited by ScottWojo; 29th August 2008 at 08:07 AM. |

I have a Echo cs670. I would love to have a custom exhaust made or purchase one somewhere. Any ideas would help, sound is not a problem the louder the better

Trev and perhaps others, On my muffler I asked Scott to make the hole point left and up at 45 degrees. Not so good, I'd say maybe go straight out? Just your left hand gets hot when cutting stumps down low. Toss some ideas around.
