I do love my McCullochs, some of the best jobs I ever did were with them. The sound of a McCulloch is still ringing in my right ear, sometimes it's the 660, mostly it's a 797. While Mac noise is my favorite, other chainsaws sound great too, nothing matches the full on bellow of the big upright cylinder Homelites, then there is the Super 754 Remington, PowerBee Lancaster, old Pioneers, Mall 12, Titan 5200, SilverKing....all sing a different song. I bought a Stihl 050, it was so quiet, that I thought there was something wrong with the muffler. That was the only Stihl I liked, I felt bad when it got crushed. Before the younger crew gets worked up about the vibe and noise levels, remember that these chainsaws are from another age, they mirrored what was going on at the time, as do today's chainsaws. The automobiles from that age were big, heavy, solid things, with big low reving engines. Today we have smaller, lightly built cars, with small high reving engines, chainsaws followed suit. Comparing new equipment, against the old, doesn't make any sense, two completely different worlds. RandyMac

Enjoyed looking at your amazing collection. See you ve got a Homelite Wiz and a Wiz 55. I owned a Wiz 66 and couple of Wiz 88 s. Best big saw in the day. Beginning of the 70 s your power mac 6 was the equiv to the Stihl 020 today. I worked for a large company that had 40 plus of them sitting in bins to go out every day. I had half a dozen of them. If you climbed you took a power mac 6 with you. The mini mac (smallest saw in the world) you ve got never started very well, when it did it didn t run too well and if it did it had no power. Many of them took graceful swan dives from high places in trees. They didn t take impact very well either LOL.

That looks like a Mini Mac, "worlds smallest chainsaw". He has one in his inventory. Probably changed the name when they went into the home improvement store market.

I love them old boys got a few of them in the shed, dont use them up the tops only for the occasional ground work. Got new boys aswell and love to use the hand tools its amusing when people look at you as you go up with just a couple of Silkys attached to you. but the look on there faces as they see what you can do is most sattisfying. ![]()
