Default What is the best way to secure cover bolt?

I have a Jonsered 920 and the posts have become loose so I can not keep the bar/chain and cover tight. What is the best method to reset these posts? Thanks!

If the bar studs are loose, you'll most likely have to replace that whole side of the casing, unless they just popped out,in which case its a simple matter of just driving them back in.

It appears that these are threaded...are they not supposed to be? Thanks!

they are threaded, remove the studs and use lock tight or Teflon tape to keep them secure. over tightening is a common mistake and will cause damage to the case and studs. look to see if any damage has been done to the studs or case and replace what is damaged. if you dont have the right tool for the studs the double nut technique works fine. if the damage is in the case, there are temporary ways to fix the saw but its not recommended so i wont say any more on the subject. use the recommended tork specs if you need to replace the case. good luck and welcome to the best tree info forum on the net Tree World

the best way to reset the studs is with a stud socket, craftsman {sears} sells them for a good price and come in a pack of 3, be sure to get the right size. you can also do the double nut thing also. do not use pliers, vice grips, or any other stupid method or you will cause more problems!

Thanks!! I was not sure about using lock tight but will now. The vibrations of the saw were enough to let everything shake loose. I will take them out and inspect them....
Thanks again
