Default Wear on a chain

Hi all,
Having just started to learn and only having 4 x 15-20 m tall pines under my belt, when blocking down what detrimental effect does this have on my saws ,Yesterday when using a smaller stihl then my larger husky both had issues with kind of seizing (chain that is) on the bar and required a bit of effort to get free running again ,Is this usual what can be done about it and what efforts should i take to prevent any excessive and quicker wear on them .I guess turning the bar over is one way to prevent premature wear but what else? if any options are there
thanks
cheers

Seizing happens as sawdust and resin goo up the bar groove.

Do not have the chain tight like a guitar string, so many tossers do that.

Between cuts have a free revving spinning session to clear goo and get oil back. Make sure oiler is cranked to flat out, scabbing on oil is also another tosser habit.

Keep the revs up when cutting, pushing too hard and bogging the saw is also done by tossers.

Flip bars and dress often, clean out the groove, I have a little Stihl tool for that. Some chains have a hole in the bottom of the link to help carry oil, make sure that is not plugged up either.

Great thanks for that Eric, chain was a bit tight on the bar on the husky so loosened it off a little and was free spinning the chain after each cut which did do the job as there was no more seizing after that, regular good maintenance and technique are the answer.

thanks again 'cheers

LOL, you only want good tossers on the throwline, other than that keep them well away.
