I'm after a MS440 (not MS441), can any of you guys get priced minus bar/chain ... just need the power head. Make sure your price includes any taxes as some states have them and others not. Then needs to be boxed and sent to me, can square up with Paypal.

Let us know how you go with this Ekka. I'm sure there would be alot of other aussie looking for "gifts" from our US friends. Could work both ways, we get a good price, they get dealer discounts and a "donation"!! |

I could ask my dealer too... but it's gonna be tricky because they don't sell them here anymore. I guess I'll ask and let you know. |

It'll be useless to ask my dealer. Our prices here seem to be WAY higher then USA prices. (according to the last chat with newguy...)

I'll actually have to *call* around, not just look around online... Noone seems to have a shelf-ready price on their site, but many say they can get it, just call and work out the details. I'll see how it goes. |

I can get the 441 for $ 946.12 that is after the 14% taxs. And if their was a group of people buying i think they might be a little cheaper.(no Promises) That is Canadian dollar it is very close to the american dollar within 5 cents. Greg

Asked at 2 shops today, both said that the 440 is no longer available. They sold their last one about a month ago.

Danny, I had the same problem when I called a couple places... They only had one left in stock that was sold a while ago... almost noone has a new 440 anymore. I've got a couple more places to call though, we'll see. Ekka, why the 440 not the 441? What do you like better about it? |

Ekka there was 1 down here still recently, i can see if its still there but Aussie prices, although i should get a fair discount. Otherwise try US ebay, you can find new/very near new saws on there cheap. |

Having bought my 200T on ebay.... The condition is always iffy. I'm sure Ekka knows that, but for the rest of you... They'll talk it up as much as possible. Even spoke to them on the phone about it. They claimed it was only used on "about 5 trees"...., and that out of the 3 200T's they were selling, that they were sending me the best one!!! (riiiiiiiight......) When I got it, it looked like it had about 400 hours use on it, lol. Needed $175 worth of rebuild, and now it's cruisin decently. Especially watch when they say "new bar and chain!" Because the old bar would have shown you how much use it had gotten. Also, if the one in the picture looks "brand new", ask them to privately send you some pictures from all angles of the saw that they are actually selling you; since many just use the manufacturer's pictures to advertise their saws. |

It's a risk though, you get it and it's stuffed then what? The 441 price is good but I got all these 440's for spares and the 441 is 1/2kg heavier for same power, I cant believe Stihl did that. ![]() Yeah vibration, big deal, Harley's love it. ![]() They want like $1500 here for one.

I'm sure they do it because it makes the chains interchange-able between Husky and Stihl ... both running .050 guage and 3/8 pitch. I think the 026 runs 0.325 pitch chain though which really screws it up if it's 0.050 guage bar. Lopa, you got 361's now anyway, that 26 wont see a lot of work anymore.

All of my bars are .050 What's the working difference between the two? Is it just the space for the runners to travel with the bar? or is there .063 chain that has different sized running links?

Thickness of the drive link and width of the groove in the bar. 063 being wider than 050. |

Okay, so it is for both, but as I asked, what does this translate to? Why not have them all the same? What's the *working difference* between the two? |
