how duse the on off mechanisms work on a stil top handle 020 saw mine will not stop engine

| dont take the handle apart yourself unless you have then finger dexterity of pick-pocket. They are a bitch to get back together properly. Take it in for service. If you dont wanna spend any money on that particular saw, the next best way of stopping it each time is to immerse it in a bucket of water or throw it at a wall......or maybe close the choke. But seriously, your OFF switch is a pretty important safety feature. Like many things in this job, there's no such thing as nearly right, if your saw isn't tip-top, operator risk starts to go up.

Usually the ground wire comes loose in the front of the handle,all you have to do is take the screw holding the front of the handle out,as well as the one going into the side case[ below the oil reservoir.] and raise the handle,then with either a pair of forsips, or small needle nose pliers slide the wire connector onto the switch contact.It takes about 15 minutes to fix.
