Here's an image: http://www.pbase.com/wyk/image/130491325/large.jpg It wouldn't let me post it previously. I'm also running Amsoil/Saber at 50:1 now. I haven't felt the need to remove my limiter tabs yet, but it is dense air here near the coast of Oregon(about 28 miles away). I am at 450ft altitude. I just ran a long cut and pulled the plug. It's a dark brown on the intake side, and very clear on the exhaust(or is it vice versa? I dunno). The plug is maybe 10 hours old. I have my L set at about 1/3 turn out, my H against the stops and I did have to mess around a bit with the idle. My muff mod is a 1.5" slit with a dremel screnched open as much as I could without deforming the muffler. WYK |

I just bought a 1 year old, but new 361 today. The guy bought it a year ago but never cut wood with it. I got all the tools, book, and 2nd chain with it too. This thing is just like it came off the showroom. Now that I have a 361, I was searching the net and came across this blog and am happy I found it. I like the pics and part numbers...very nice. I have a 460 and a 026 so I thought a 361 would fit nice between them. I have a dual port muffler cover on the 460 and might look into the oil pump mods you were talking about. Even with the pump adjusted all the way up, it's not quite enough in the big, dry oaks. Keep up the good info |

Rollomatic E is among the lighter and better ones, using anything else on a Stihl mount saw makes little sence to me - but I am not sure they are availiable in 24/25". ![]() | |

My 361 also has the .52mm jet (.0205"). Is the .56mm (.02205") the next available size? That would be a 8% jump and seems maybe too much? If you try it, let us know. Thanks

| Probably not your MS 361, because it will be .063, if that helps.

Hey guys, I've read the majority of this thread and I was looking for either more info on the shark gill muffler mod on the 361 or someone to do the porting mod for me( I don't think I'm capable). Also I'm looking for stuff I can do to my saw to just make it over all, better. I got the felling dog and catcher kit. I'm considering a 460r pump so I could run the 28" bar and keep it lubed. Anything else that provides good power increase or just makes it easier to run? |

Windthrown I guess you're saying you found that the 0000 042 1216 1 Rim sprocket 3/8" 8T works better on a standard saw aswell as a modded one? I'm going to be cutting mainly Oak, Ash and Chestnut. With my new MS361 that arrived by courier this morning. It's sat in my kitchen shiny and new at present but will be cutting a storm damaged cherry in an hour or so. It has the standard 7 tooth drive,15 inch bar and 56 teeth. I don't want to invalidate the warranty just yet so I'm only considering changing the drive, bar and chain at present if it will help the performance. |
