Bought this saw because I did not know what it was, I know dumb, but what is it? Seller said there were no markings or model numbers on it. I will not have in my hands for another week or so. |

Interesting. The 191's and 192's have the filler caps above/below each other on the same side. Could be an old 200T from way back or is it the new 201T? The thumb mark near the on/off switch is a trait of the 191's etc.

You have there what people have been waiting months for and most still can't get them yet. Supposed to be a big improvement over the old 200T. Are you sure its not a stolen field test model? Willard.

I know nothing about the saw other than it runs good. I bought if from a guy off the east coast. I didn't get a serial number from him. It will be in my hands on march 10th or 11th and then I will know more. I have been looking all over the internet and can not find a pic or the 201t from the filler side only the clutch cover. Hopefully not stolen!

| Significant increase in weight, not good for the small amount of HP gain. This makes it about as heavy as the shindaiwa 357

My information says 201T =8.1 lbs, 200T=7.9 lbs 201T is only a few ounces heavier and has more power over the old 200T. Supposed to be a good runner with the strato charge setup for more torque and fuel economy. Also better ergonomics. Willard.

I can't wait to run mu 020 vs. the 200t vs. this saw. I will weigh them and run them and see what the real world difference is.

Any climbing saw worth its salt shouldn't have a primer bulb.

I presently have a strong running MS200 and Husqvarna 338XPT. I had to do a muffler mod to the 338 to bring its h.p. even with the Stihl. It took a 9/16" exhaust outlet pipe added to the pre-existing factory outlet to make the little Husqvarna 338 go ballastic. My next pair of top handles will be the new Stihl MS201T and the Husqvarna T540XP. Its fun to be bilingual. ![]() Willard.

With a urban or residential use saw like the ms201t I can see they would be easy to get stolen in that environment. When I worked for Stihl in 1989 all my saws I had field tested went to the bush for loggers to use in isolated rural areas. The logger had full use of that saw for himself and took better care of it, then if it was used or had access to other various tree crew members, or the public who are always nearby in the urban setting. The man most concerned about these missing MS201Ts would be Steve Meriam Stihl USA's product research and development manager. He used to be my branch manager at Edmonton, Alberta Canada in 1989, one heck of a nice guy. Willard.

They have the Stihl MS201t for sale at every stihl store around my house, i have been doing tree work since i have been twelve and have ran alot of different kinds of stihl saws in a tree from ms200t ms192t ms192 and a ms200 by far the ms200t is the best handling running saw ever the top handle body design is excellent. the 020t is the best trim saw to run in a tree good high end power best handling saw stihl made a champ trim saw and i hope they never get rid of the goofy design such as the ms192 or ms200 looks like a ground saw and has no power. but i am excited to get one of these 021t stihl has made i we have 2 020t's but we figured why not try out the new 021t im getting it here in a month with a 16'' bar hells yea and if i dont like it still got the faithful 020t's with me. Stihl all the way!!!! |
