Hi All, I just brought a second hand Stihl HT75 pole saw. The budget (ie the handbrake) didnt allow for a new one. I was wondering if anyone knows of any mods to get it going harder or any general tip or tricks. I have used pole saws regularly but never owned one so im keen to know all there is!! Thanks |

Mine cost me $500 for shaft repairs not long ago, goes really hard now .... didn't realise how stuffed the shaft/bearings were, but it is 10 years old! Not a lot you can do, keep chain very sharp, make sure it pumps oil, I run with the chain quite slack and that's about it. The newer ones with the bigger engine are heavier, when you got a lot of over head pruning to do I'd rather take the 75.

Thanks Mate, Yeah i toyed around with the idea of going for HP but noticed most are going for the HT75. Alson noticed that everyone keeps hold of the older units?? Any reason that you know off? This will probably show my lack of experience but why the slack chain?? Im thinking it jams easier or wears out the bar faster?? |

Older carby, more gas, more emissions makes for a better performance and less blankets to wear!

Kerry, Dont know if you've seen it, but someone just posted a couple days back about shop manuals a few threads above this one on the chainsaw sect. It's listed as Stihl Shop Manuals or something similar to that. Follow the link it will take you to HT75. I looked at a few and some don't have info on the pages, some do. Get what you can while you can, before Stihl trashes the site. Mike |
