Hi. I'm a newby and would like to say in advance thanks for any response I get. I have a Stihl 090 that I use from time to time. Took it out for it's routine start up and run, to keep it running and it seems like the oil is pouring out of the oiler for the bar. If I remember right, you had to push the plunger on the tank to make this happen. I don't think this is normal and would like to find out what's causing this to happen. I did take the oil tank off to inspect things inside and also removed the pump. It was nice and clean as I though maybe it was dirty and was causing something to stick open.I found a diaphram beteen the case and the pump. It looked intact and was still soft. I put it all back together and it's still doing it. |

have you adjusted the oil pump adjusting setting? Turning the adjustment screw [more like a bolt] counter-clockwise to the left gives more oil flow, opposite direction less oil. You have to pull off the air filter cover and filter to get at it. A 10mm nut locks the bolt. Willard. |

Hi. Thanks for the response. Been really busy and just starting to mess with it again. As far as I know the ownly way to adjust the pump is inside and under the cover. When I had it apart I saw a screw on the back side by the plunger. I checked that and it was screwed it all the way. Since then I talked to a stihl dealer and He suggested that mabe the cap was plugged and there is preasure being built up in the tank causing to force the oil out. Going to check thay out today. |
