Default Stihl 084 no spark

Fella's

My 084 has no spark,

can someone explain how I would test the coil/magneto is working , I have a multimeter , its a well maintained saw with a recent carb rebuild, goes hard but now it just dont go at all. air gap is 0.25mm
Its a great saw, bought it new 1995

I am in search of an Ignition Coil for a Stihl 084 .

Check the kill switch harness those 084's are a culprit for the harness to earth to the frame. Tha gap on the coil is real important also on those 084's

Cheers mate,

That's exactly what has happened, it has worn through the protective sheath then right through the insulation on the kill wires as well as the plug lead . I never thought to check this earlier as it has been an intermittent problem for a while, I am sure had I picked this up with a better inspection of leads then I could have avoided this issue,

Anyway , with the saw out of action and the Minister for War and Finance not yet releasing funds for a new big bore saw , I might be able to fit in some brewing in the shed,
