Default Stihl 044, with Stock Muffler, and Modified muffler.

Today wasn't that bad of a day for cold, so I was able to get an Ash log pulled out of the pile of tree tops, and snow, and ice.
I've been wanting to see the difference between the stock, and the modified muffler for a while now, and today was the day.
I used the same chain saw, with the stock, and the modified muffler, along with the same 20' Stihl bar, and same Carlton Semi Chisel chain, to do all of the testing cuts.
I made a video, of cutting with both mufflers. As you can see the difference, between the two mufflers. Here is the links, to You Tube, where I posted the videos.
Hope everyone enjoys them, as I did enjoy making them. Thanks. Bruce.

Did you make fine carb adjustments after putting on modded muffler?

I did a muffler and put it on without carb tuning to test and see compared to stock muffler. Gains were made and then I fine tuned the carb to the modded muffler and the bigger gains were found. Just did it for chit and giggles one day.

I did the fine tuning after I put the modified muffler on the chain saw, before I did the cuts, but I didn't adjust the carburetor all that much. I adjusted till I had a slight burble, in the four stroking, and let it at the wood. Thanks. Bruce.

The next step with this chain saw, is that I'm going to have the cylinder ported, I have a friend, that is going to do the porting for me, and I'll be sending the muffler, and the piston to be worked on as well.
When I get everything back, and the chain saw, reassembled, I'll do some more testing cuts, make another video, and I'll post the link for it here, as well. Thanks. Bruce.
