Stihl 044 Big Bore

I got a Frankensteined and straight gassed Stihl 044 that I will be putting a aftermarket Big Bore 52mm cylinder and piston on with a daul port muffler and a complete clean up.Anyone want to see the project so far?The Big Bore kit is on its way so I have been cleaning and put a second port on the muffler and painted it today.More pics to come.I got the saw from a girl at work whos husband has a excavating business and one of his employees ran it over then a few months latter straight gassed it.It came in a box.Tried to clean the cylinder up but it had some scratches in the combustion chamber so Big Bore time

You know the BB dont work on the 10mm ones right. Just in case you get one of those odd ball ones that go over the serial number of 10mm.

Got real busy and forgot about tis thread

I got the BB kit and installed it and sold it before I even cut any wood with it.I sold my ported Husqvarna 371XP to and got a new Dolmar 7900 which I like alot,It cuts like a rapped ape.Heres the rest of the pics.

More pics.Sorry no step by step.Its very easy to do just pull the old P/C off and put the new BB P/C on.And yes the BB kit will not work with the 10mm model.

How much does it cost for the BB kit?

what about all up to do the change over, like gaskets etc?

The big bore a usually a straight swap. Make the base gasket is set right ant torque the cylinder. Run the carb a wee bit fat till the saw is broke in.
