Got it on trade for a spare 066 lowerend. Havin fits with carb it is better since it was adjusted. Weird thing is she back fires when shutting down. Never work on the timing of a 041 farm boss so I need some help I am suprised at how well it runs considering t sat un used for 20 years under a work bench after the previous owner I love these rare saw finds I am planning to run a 20"/36" combo on her when she is running right. |

36" on a 44mm 041??? You had better plan on using skip chain, and don't schedule anything else for that week. Make sure the throttle plate is OK on that 041. Those things vibrate so bad that I have seen the sides of the plate worn flat. That allows plenty of air past the side of the plate. You have to tune it stupid rich to get it to idle, and then it floods as soon as the throttle opens. Also seen the throttle shafts worn to where it will air leak past the ends of the shaft. |

Found the carb block was loose. I am only using the 36" for limbing soft wood trees. I always make sure on older saws to run them fatter to help make they are safe from lean seizure. This series of saws are quite unique for the exshaust sound. I am looking to put a full wrap on it down the road. Needing to fine a service manual for this . SawDOC

Well service manual is been found. Suprised I was able to get a owners manual from Stihl for a 041FB. Got the handle fixed and and it has very little vibes for a non av saw. |

[QUOTE=superfire;103206] it has very little vibes for a non av saw. QUOTE] What is your idea of a saw that vibrates a lot then? I've got one and my McCulloch 10-10s and 700's are a lot smoother than it. |

Well, were you able to go cutting fire wood, with your chain saw? How did it run for you? Bruce.

Bruce went and cut some wood seems carb is wonky. Not much grunt in the cut. Plenty of speed just no pulling power, can not even press to hard or it stalls out |

Have a look at this link, that I have started a while back, on carburetor repair. I posted a link, to another website, that has very in depth detail, to rebuilding a carburetor. I hope this helps. Bruce. Carburetor repair made simple
