STIHL 028av super

Hi everyone.......First post from me. Thanks for your time.

I can purchase one of these for around $190.00. The saw looks good but I need to get a chain. It starts up and seems to run ok.Is this a good saw for the price

As to whether it's a good saw for the price...

My 028av is right around 20 years old and still goin good. I'm a little more meticulous about cleaning/maintaining this saw because of its 'maturity' but it just keeps working. No complaints here. I started my business with that saw and an 011.

What kind of work are you going to be using it for? How frequently?

I know where there is a 026 for $200 and shipping, looks close to new.

It will be used for major clean up of trees felled by wind and ice. It will be used excessively. Probably 3 acres of trees to be cleaned up.Thats just the limbs.I was also looking into a new ms290 farmboss.

just picked a 028av.needs a muffler but ive got it running.going to rebuild carb.should be up and running this week.ill see how it stacks up against my ms261 and my buddies farm boss.looks to be in great shape for an older saw.

First off the price is subjective to condition of he saw. Second the 028 is to old for hard work like what want. A 026 with a 20 bar is a better choice.

will an 028av take a top end from an 028 super or ms 280? maybe a little more displacement?im gonna run it.new muffler gonna mod it sat see how it runs got good copression though.
