Default sthil 044 carb tuning

hi guys first just want to say thanks for help with my first thread
i recently aquired an 044 from a friend but it needs the carb setting up and i do not have a clue screws in, screws out its all too confusing any one that can help ???

Go ahead and sit and learn. You need to turn the H&L in till they are lightly seated. Then turn both out 1 turn. Then you need turn both separately till the saw runs smooth and accelerates smoothly.

lakeyboy, welcome to Treeworld. I didn't know anything about saws until I joined this site. Stick around, you will learn alot of exellent stuff from the pro guys on this site. The stuff I learned here has saved my butt a couple of times!

Thanks again for the help guys the I managed to get the saw to idle with out the chain flying round just worried about setting the high screw wrong it sounds a bit rough at the mintute but don't want to set it too lean and damage the motor

Your in the right direction, okay: make fultrotle then screw the H-screw in that it sound clear, then +/_ 1/8 open that it dont sound clear and holds a bit back ad the engine speed
