Default second hand 394xp

Well, I've been bitten by the bug! I've been looking at a 2nd hand 394xp that's for sale for $450 neg. Not cause I need it, but cause I need something to keep me busy. The seller says it needs a service. I'd probably put a new P&C on it if I buy it & it's any good. So what are people's opinions on this, is $450 too much??? I'll have to drive a 4 hour round trip to pick the thing up.

$250 sounds better. 394 is one of the most powerful saws that Ive ever used. If your just looking for something to tinker with I would try to make sure that your not buying someone elses problems. CAD is tricky! Seriously, that is an older model and parts are expensive. You can convert it over to the newer 395 but that is a fair bit of work and expense too.

Just make sure it runs good before buying. Good saw alas not as good as a 066 but to each there own. Hard to work on an very exspensive to own Saw will start following you home when you get a really nasty case of CAD
