What no replies!
I thought I would get a little action concerning the PM270 Canadien, information I have read said quite a few were shipped to Australia and New Zealand. Also heard a rumor that down under was a good place to get parts for these old monsters. They were made in Vancouver British Columbia Canada.Lawrence

Hi Lawrence.
Quite the looking Machine that you have there. I hope that you didn't have the Chain Saw in the Living Room, to take those Pictures of the Chain Saw. I know that I wouldn't get away with that. . Bruce.

Gidday from downunder (?),SURE 2009 was a year or two back but ya saw is forty or so years old so hopefully we ain't too slow for benefit from a response? I reckon you are right there..These old saws ARE all over the place here (N.Z.) and I am such a bloke as likes these old GRunters. I look at your 270 example and cringed at the state of it ! As a 2 stroke naturally they are retrievable and the recovery has to be well thought through for some parts to avoid further damage. I'm getting custom made rings for some of mine ,the starter is a Morse Fairbanks recoil starter still being manufactured to this day. I have six Canadiens .A pair of 340's ,a 350 , a360 , a 370(edit:actually it's NOT,it is a 270) ,& a 175. more later when I top up my internet connection.

A bit more on this topic petesoldsaw.. my 370 isn't. It is a 270. The most remarkable thing about these old worn out thrashed, trashed & discarded old pieces of S*%# is that 60% of them I have found have started up despite looking like death had already reaped the essence of the machine. So just to clarify my cringe at the appearance of your 270 thats not to imply its looking had it, NO. just they command such respect in my mind that I expect them to look as good as the examples in Mike Acres collection (check his website?)
If I could buy a brand new one today I would NOT. These are as repairable as any Villiers , or Briggs & Stratton stationary engine ever was. Apparently the Canadien brand name was dropped during a corporate sellout & the Pioneer name was adopted with a view to improving international reception of the Bristol built saws.I find a steady stream of bits available on E-Bay .Some dont appear to sell remaining available at length ,others a bit odd or possibly not as "universal" as claimed. By now perhaps you've had time to paint & refurbish that machine, which I note is painted yellow.Often done to make them blend in with the Pioneers of the time which were the later forestry saw I've been led to believe. Stick up some pics if yu got that far??
