Soaked the carb while waiting on the carb kit. Both diaphragms didnt seem to bad, so I through them in again to test, did rip one gasket, but seems ok.

Piece of soft poplar.

Redneck fix to the case held slamming it into the wood.

This is my 2nd one of these (other one sold to firewood cutter and still in use today with 22").
Poulan 3750 Bad Boy 60cc 20" 3/8 full chisel full comp.
It's open port and tested against the beloved Husky 262xp it was nipping right on it's heels in the cut.
When we tested cutting hardwoods, 2 of us actually like the feel of the 3750 over the 262xp. That should give you a idea of the balance etc of the saw.

Group pic is a 362xp, PP 415, BB 3750

I had to have it . Little present to myself yesterday. I never heard of it and couldnt even find any info on the web except for a IPL.

Poulan 2100 rear handle trim saw 33cc. It looks like a 2000 top handle that has been adapted to a rear handle with coil spring AV

I also talked to a guy in TX that told me Partner had the same saw Partner 395.

You know anything about these Niko or anyone else?

My brother Dennis has a 5400 race ported with a tuned exhaust pipe which he had built in the early 1980s, very quick saw, I'll post pics when I can.

Cool, thanks Willard. I'm pretty sure this 5200 is 85cc's as well. Its a very strong runner that's for sure, got a nice sound as well.

Yep 5200 and 5400 are both 85cc, 5200 introduced in 1975 and replaced by 5400 in 1980.

Good to see you here too, Will.

I'll try to find a pic or two of the 8500. It is apart right now waiting for me to put some new crank bearings and seals in.

Ya!! I signed up a while ago now, but never really came here. I need a break from AS. Going to slow down with the saws for a bit. Going to finish up a 365BB and maybe another 372, that'll be it for a while.

Depends if your 372 is completely stock or is it muffler modded? Are your carb screw limiters still on?
My 372 has a mild muffler mod, non rev limit ign. module, carb screw limiters cut off. My 372 runs best at 3/4 turn on H, 1 1/4 turn on L.

Well for starters your going to have to know how to tune a saw. If ya don't take it somewhere. If you knew how to tune a saw, you wouldn't have to ask where to start. But 1 1/4 turns out on each will be a good starting point, the H will likely need to go leaner.

i can usually tune,as i was a mechanic most of my life, but i figured if i just asked, maybe someone could give me a place to start instead of screwing around[and possibly screwing up the jet threads, the more they get messed with, the more likely they are to strip out.]I've had it happen.

They should never strip, only if they've been tightened down too much once they hit bottom. Do you have a tach? Its a great help for tuning as well.

Then when reving Wide open, out of the wood, you need to hear the 4stroking sound, it shouldn't be smooth and singing.

Newguy says his 372 is bone stock, so it will have its screw limiters intact. With these limiters there is only a 1/2 turn available on the H and L screws.
First warm the saw up for at least 5-10 minutes, then turn clockwise the L screw as far as it goes. The saw will still run because the limiter has stopped the rest of 1/4 -1/3 turn left to the screw seat. Back out the screw anti-clockwise until there is no bog or lag under acceleration. Adjust the idle screw [T] until the engine idles smoothly and slow enough that the chain doesn't turn.
Now turn the H screw clockwise until the engine is at WOT is just 4 cycling enough to not be screaming [13,6oo rpm is about all the rev limit module will allow] I find the H turned clockwise tight to the limiter usually is safe enough and give you the best average power with this setup.

Now you tell me!
Then read my advice in post 20 but for safety leave the H at 1 turn.
