Default North Seattle shop...

Can anyone recommend a good shop or person in the North Seattle area for working on my MS 316...? I have considered the muffler mod but some shops will not tune or work on a saw that has been modified in any way.

Thanks... Casey

A simple muffler mod and slight adjustment to the carb can be done at home with a Dremel Tool if you have one to make the saw breath better no addition in horsepower but breaths better in the cut stage. That muffler is very easy to work on to do your mod...good luck

I have the tools to do the muffler mod... just have never worked on a chainsaw before regarding getting the carb and rpms set correctly. I have worked on cars since the 60s so I am mechanically able. I was thinking of doing the muffler mod then paying someone to do the tuning... I have the shop manual, and with a little research, I am sure I could do it.

Sure..The carb setting after the muffler mod will not be more than a quater turn on the H and L if that. Test the saw after the muffler mod with no adjustments to the carb and let the saw warm up and see if the saw is running rich or just breathing better and fine tune the H screw clockwise just a hair and test the saw in wood. These steps will save you some bucks. I run my saws just on the rich side at 4300ft..Hope that helps good luck

Thanks Logger Ally... I am sitting at just a hair over sea level. Just thought I would need some fancy rpm reader to set the saw just perfect. Think I might pick up a second muffler... to have one modified and one stock.
