Default New Saw

Hi Guys I was doing a search for some saw details and hit a link that brought me here.
I had a Stihl MS390 stolen and need a replacement. It sounds like the MS391 which is the new version of my old saw isn't all it should be with dust getting in to the intake etc.
So what would you recomend as a replacement for my MS390?

I'm having trouble getting into Stihl's international website, so I don't know what saws are still being sold in France. Based on what saws are being sold in the USA, I think you have to either step down to the MS 290 Farm Boss, or find a good used saw. If I were you, I would see how much a used MS 361 is going for if it's available in your area....more power than the MS 390 and I think a pound lighter in weight! Just my two cents....

i'ld be going a 362/361 over a 390/391 personally.
...for that matter a well looked after 036/360 would still be a better machine.

Ok thanks for that.

Not really local to me but I can get someone to pick it up for me from the UK.

MS361 new in the box, 18" bar and chain £460 (Uk pounds/sterling).

= 527€, 701 $AUD, 715 $CAD

Price in France 860 € = £751, 1144 $AUD, 1168 $CAD

Looks like they're cheap in the UK to me.

Is the MS 361 still available in Europe? We can't get it here in America any more. I bought mine new in May 2009 for $620 USD....I'll probably hang on to that one for a long time!!

Yes it's available. Limited stock though and it's a clearance item, so the end of the line I guess.

The guy sold the last MS361 before my insurance paid out. Can anyone recomend a good saw that's currently available?

get a 362, its loosely based on the 361, a trifle heavier but you get a modern stratified saw with a vastly superior airfiltration system than the previous model.
