Default New Member/ Husky 460

Hello all, This is my first so please be gentle. I am a member of two other forums but this one appears more laid back, refined, polished to a high gloss. OK enough of the intro now onto the question.First off the last NEW saw I bought was an 028 Stihl in 1985. I stihl have it out in my garage along with six others. Now a lot of people like to here a saw wind or scream ext. What I am trying to say is that my local Husky dealer has a bran new in the box 460. The price is in my range. I cut mostly Oak, Mesquite here in Texas.I am not a professional so I believe this saw would fit the bill. The size range from 4-8 inches all the way up to 12-20. The Husky has an 18 B/C 3/8.
I am 54 years young and still enjoy working on my saws, always trying to make them cut better. This is an obsession.
Anyway, does anyone have this model?Any suggestions? I own a O41 that is like an anvil but still runs great. Thanks, Ken

Stihl 041, Husky 55, Husky 51, Husky 36, Stihl o28, Stihl 025,

Isnt the 460 husky the bigger bore husky 455? If so it is a homeowner plastic clamshell design. If you can handle the weight to power you will be fine.

The saw will do what you want. If your happy with it and the money is right enjoy it.

I would think a properly tuned and sharp chain on the 51 and 55 would lighter and cut better. JMO.

Cut for fun, your reply makes a lot of sense.Yes my 55 and 51 are both well maintained and cut very well. After looking at the specks for the 460 and my 55,you are correct. I will just put a new BC on the 55. ( 18 in 3/8) as a matter of fact, I bought the 55 at a pawn shop. It was straight gassed. Anyway I put a new piston and ring, did some mild porting work. It now has 165 lbs of compression. My 51 should be able to handle the limbing chores as well as my new 445.Thanks for the good common sense. Ken
