Im a new land owner of 5 acres completely full of trees. I was happy to get the opertunity to buy new toys with a engine. So i ended up buying a set of Stihl saws a 044, 310, 026, and a little 019av for the wife to help cut limbs from the logs. My 044 dosnt run but has 155psi compression and good spark. The 026 has 90psi compression and I was told it dont have enough spark to even fire. The 310 and 019av run perfect. I know the 026 needs rebuilt so I am sending the powerhead off to have it rebuilt I guess I cant say by what company. What im really going crazy with is this 044 because I know all 3 carb screws are messed up because I messed them up myself. I have been trying to find out how to tune it from having the screws seated and backing them out. I have found lots of info on how to set it correctly but I need to be able to get it back to stock settings. I looked at the owners manual but dont understand that at all. I thought this was going to be easy since I run the big 5th scale rc fg and baja rc trucks with 2 stroke zenoah engines fully ported, longer stroke 30.5cc 8hp ect but this is very different. I have a lot to learn so im stihl pullin. I got the 44 to start but it just screams and I cant get it settled down quick enough so i shut it down. Im sure every carb screw is way way off. I would greatly appreciate any help and am really wanting to learn.

1 turn out from a lightly seat screw on the high side 3/4 turn out from a lightly seat screw on the low side Start saw then slowly turn the low screw till the chain stops moving and you get a ok throttle response, you will need to play with the throttle plate screw to lower the idle down. |
